SPRING HAS SPRUNG AT THE LABORIE LAZY DAYS MARKET

1 Sep, 2012 @ 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Bid the grey gloomy days of winter farewell and celebrate the start of spring by heading off to the Laborie Lazy Days’ Market, for their fun filled spring-inspired market on Saturday, 1 September (9am to 2pm).

Celebrating the start of spring as well as National Arbour Week visitors to the market will have the opportunity to plant a tree or two at Laborie, and in doing so help sustain the environment. Members of the local Lions Club will be at the market to assist with the tree planting and support this worthy initiative.

As an added attraction visitors will be the first to taste the Laborie Lazy Days wine range which will be launched at this market. The range consists of a Rosé, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and will be released just in time to enjoy during our picture perfect summer days.

Chef Matthew Gordon, resident chef at Harvest, the restaurant at Laborie, will be treating food enthusiasts to a complimentary cooking demonstration on the day, as he shows you how to cook with flowers. A truly unique experience!

Fast gaining a following, the popular lifestyle market is situated on the picturesque Laborie Wine Farm in the heart of the Paarl Winelands, less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Since its establishment in 2011, the market has become known as the ideal meeting place in Paarl. Fondly referred to as the ‘neighbourhood farm in the centre of Paarl’, it is the perfect occasion for family and friends to enjoy a Saturday morning in a scenic and relaxed setting.

Visitors are treated to a wide selection of fresh produce and lifestyle goods. These include freshly baked breads, coffee, cheese, olives, honey and charcuterie. From mouth-watering food stalls to arts and craft exhibitors, the market caters to young and old, which includes ample kiddies’ entertainment.  The Spring market is the perfect opportunity to stock up on freshly cut seasonal flowers and herbs.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the market area or simply soak up the warmth of the sun’s rays whilst sipping on a cup of freshly brewed coffee and homemade croissant. For those wanting something slightly cooler Laborie’s superb bubblies will be available to purchase and enjoy at the market. Before heading home partake in a fun filled game of boules.

Laborie produces some of the best Méthode Cap Classique bubblies; an array of award-winning wines as well as an estate brandy. Visitors can stay overnight in the tranquil guest house or enjoy a delicious meal at Harvest.

An exciting new addition to the farm’s many offerings is the Cecil Skotnes art exhibition, featuring 30 works by this highly acclaimed South African artist, which has been partnered with the Laborie Limited Collection wines. A permanent exhibition at Laborie, his masterpieces are on display in the Cellar Door, Manor House and in the restaurant.
