Artscape accelerates pace for holidays
The Artscape Theatre Centre accelerates the pace for the coming summer holiday season with a potpourri of stage presentations. The programme for the next two weeks includes drama, comedy, opera, dance and the celebration of World AIDS Day.

TWO South African friends who haven’t seen each other in years are reunited at a wedding in a small resort town on the Baltic coast in the former East Germany. The play is for anyone who has ever felt like an extra-terrestrial on the edge of a wedding. Tickets range from R50 to R85.

Casper de Vries: Vark in Hel – 15 to 24 November 2012 (± 2 hrs)
CASPER de Vries and his razor sharp satire returns to the Artscape Opera House. In this show he sends up everything under (and above) the sun. No holy cow escapes his tongue. The discussion ranges from public scandals to aunties with ‘cauliflower’ hair dos. The show with an array of audio visual elements stimulates the senses. Tickets range from R150 to R240.

The Tales of Hoffman – 24 to 29 November 2012 (± 3 hrs)
SOUTH African operatic legend Angelo Gobbato directs a new production of Offenbach’s crowning achievement at the Artscape Theatre. German romantic writer, ETA Hoffmann, entertains his friends with tales of his failed love affairs with three women.  The Tales of Hoffmann has proved to be Offenbach’s most popular stage work. Tickets range from R100 to R175.

Butlers and Billionaires – 28 November to 1 December 2012 (± 1,5 hrs)
WHEN a wealthy playboy is found dead, all evidence seems to point to his eccentric butler. However, as the investigation into the murder deepens, it appears that all is not as it seems… An edge-of-your-seat, exhilarating ride at the Artscape Arena, with suspicious characters, outrageous antics and twisting plots right up to the final scene! And the audience gets to choose throughout the show what happens next! Tickets range from R60 to R70.

World AIDS Day Gala Concert – 1 December 2012 (± 2,5 hrs)

CELEBRATING unsung heroes in the fight against the world wide AIDS pandemic this prestigious event at the Artscape Opera House also acknowledges the 16 Days of Activism for ‘No Violence Against Women and Children’. It features the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Goodwill Ambassador to South Africa Jimmie Earl Perry, international South African sopranos Golda Schultz and Janelle Visagie, Roné Roux, Cape Dance Company (Debbie Turner), Voices of Love Ensemble and more. A classical pop concert suitable for the entire family, the evening will be hosted by illusionist/comedian Wolfgang Riebe. Tickets range from R80 to R120.
