PACHA IBIZA NEW YEARS DAY AT THE GRAND CAFÉ & BEACH IN CAPE TOWN

Save your voyager miles—Ibiza is coming to Cape Town this summer. Bring in 2013 with style at The Grand Café & Beach in Granger Bay at two concurrent events: New Year’s Eve (31 December 2012-13) as well as a day/night event on New Year’s Day (01 January 2013). Ibiza DJ legend Andy Baxter is headlining both events and joining him on the line-up will be Goldfish, Dean Fuel, Chris Jack, Coco Loco, Lady M, Anthea Scholtz, and Ivan Turanjanin. Adjacent to the V&A Waterfront, The Grand is the perfect backdrop for the island party brand: a private white beach for a dancefloor, beach bars, undisturbed views of the Atlantic Ocean, and at night the glittering vista of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The main building is a converted warehouse with space aplenty and sky high ceilings.

The Grand is also an acclaimed eatery as well as party venue and revellers can tuck into café-style food; from thin-crust pizza, that’s almost as long as a surfboard, to a summery seafood dishes.

Ibiza, the Spanish island is renowned for its beautiful people, beautiful beaches and beautiful parties—the Mediterranean jewel is the capital of Club Land. And Pacha is its original club. The brand now boasts franchises and events all over the world in countries like, Brazil, America, Russia, Germany, and Egypt, to name a few.

Pacha parties are famous for sophistication and hedonism, and are recognised throughout the world by their double cherry logo. Pacha said: ‘The cherries represent a hip, stylish, and free-spirited Mediterranean lifestyle as well as being constant reminders of our inimitable, glamorous and hedonistic nights.’

Andy Baxter has been Pacha Ibiza’s resident and international touring artist for ten years. His sound is a mix of Balearic, hip-hop, disco and rare groove to deep, melodic tech house. He’s one busy guy. His additional Ibiza residencies include We Love Sundays at Space, iconic sunset institution Café Mambo, plus a weekly debut at high-end beach club El Chiringuito.

A purist, he rediscovered his passion for playing vinyl, and created his own monthly event at Pacha: The Vinyl Fix. He also presents his own weekly program, The Fix, on Ibiza Sonica.

Joining Andy Baxter on the line-up on the biggest party night of the year is Dean FUEL, Anthea Scholtz and Chris Jack.

Legendary local DJ, Dean FUEL is one of Cape Town’s most prolific and in-demand artists. His versatile style on the decks characterises his unique sound. His music is as fresh as it comes and is always on the cutting edge of electronic dance music; an intercontinental blend of minimal, funk, house, techno, electro, progressive and trance.

Local lass Anthea Scholtz is no stranger to Ibiza; she regularly gigs in the island’s top clubs and she’s just as prolific in South Africa’s nightlife scene. Her sound spans from ‘dark, brooding techno to driving minimal’. Massively in demand her star is constantly on the rise.

Deep house, tech house, and techno aficionado Chris Jack styles himself as a true entertainer, and lives to give the crowd what they want. He reads the party effortlessly and plays with precision. He’s gigged alongside DJ greats such as, James Zabiela, Sasha and Paul Oakenfold. He also plays regularly on Roger Goode’s Saturday Surgery on 5FM.

Celebrate the first day of the 2013 with Andy Baxter, Goldfish LIVE, Coco Loco, Lady M and Ivan Turanjanin.

Goldfish is world famous jazz house duo, Dom Peters and David Poole. These guys need no introduction. Their innovative sound includes live instruments and compelling grooves. Goldfish has residency at some of Ibiza’s top clubs, and has been a resident at Pacha for many years. This top South African act knows how to put on a show.

Lady M indulges in groovy downtempo beats, deep house, tech house,

deep tech and deep thumping techno, her sound is bass driven, percussive and melodic. Part of the Make Believe crew she has played alongside some of the country’s top underground artists, and she’s just recently returned from Europe after playing in Amsterdam and Berlin. Recent gigs include; Butterbox and Melt parties, Hype Media events, Love Peace Techno parties, Equinox, Redbull Studio Nights, Kinky Disco, and Earthdance Cape Town.

Along with being a prolific DJ and producer, Ivan Turanjanin is one of the founding members of sSHADOWORKSs as well as ‘the culture manager’ at Red Bull Studios. Techno purist Ivan’s has an ‘uncanny ability to recognise and finely craft a sound which harks back to the beginnings of the Detroit techno revolution, infused with the nuances of Berlin’s dark moody throbbers.’

DJ Coco Loco is crazy about house music, and has not only played at numerous house music events, but has organised some of them too in collaboration with KZN company Mr White Productions .These include, ‘Durban Underground’, ‘Superstar DJ’ and ‘Tim Deluxe 2004’ as well as smaller club-based events aimed at the niche deep house market like ‘Diamond Knights’, ‘Boy & Girl Next Door’ and ‘Yishi Fonk’. He has gone on to release two mix albums on USM: ‘Deeper Sound of Coco Loco – Deep Trouble’ and ‘Deeper Sound of Coco Loco 2 – Fly By Night’. The latter offering ‘a chunkier dance-floor vibe’.
