Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story on Stage, opens in South Africa on 18 January 2013. Produced by Pieter Toerien, Hazel Feldman and Karl Sydow, Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story on Stage,is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensationally sexy dancing!

Seen by millions across the globe this worldwide smash-hit production tells the classic story that Dirty Dancing fans know and love, of Baby and Johnny, two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds, who come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives. The production features several hit songs performed by a rocking live band, including Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby, Do You Love Me? and the heart stopping Time Of My Life. The cast gets through 55 songs and 73 scene changes each show and Baby alone has 21 costume changes.

Playing the leads of Johnny and Baby are UK  Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story on Stage star Gareth Bailey and South African musical theatre performer Bryony Whitfield. Luigi Vigliotti is the alternate Johnny. The supporting cast includes Mila de Baggi as Penny, Nadia Beukes ias Lisa, Kyle Grant as Billy, Richard Gau as Robbie, and Rhys Williams as Neil. Zane Gillion takes the role of Tito and Mike Huff is Max. Mark Rayment is Baby’s Dad Jake, and Kate Normington is Marge, her mother. Malcolm Terry plays the part of Mr. Schumaker and Nurit Graff is Viv. The ensemble includes Kjersti Soberg, Bradley Searle, Claire Taylor, LJ Nielsen, Chris Jaftha, Cameron Botha, Liezl Oelofsen, Sebe Leotela, Jessica Green, Henk Opperman and Lebo Toko.

Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story on Stage, runs at the Teatro at Montecasino until 13 January 2013 before moving to the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town from 18 January to 10 March 2013. Performances run Tuesday to Friday at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm and Sundays at 2pm and 6pm. Tickets range from R100 to R400 – prices vary depending on day of week and performance time.
