15 Mar, 2013 - 23 Mar, 2013
Milnerton Players presents MOON OVER THE BREWERY
A whimsical comedy By Bruce Graham with direction by Sheila McCormick
Booking has opened for “Moon over the Brewery” the next production at the Milnerton Playhouse. Playing from 15 to 23 March this charming, romantic comedy is great entertainment in support of local community theatre.
The play is funny, touching and romantic with a strong artistic theme so patrons can also enjoy an art exhibition by artists of Chambers Art Studio run by Glenda Chambers. The “moonscape” works on stage have been also provided by the same art studio.
Set in a small coalmining town in Pennsylvania the play focuses around waitress and single mom Miriam (played by newcomer Elizabeth Van Der Merwe) who struggles to make ends meet and raise her genius teenage daughter, Amanda (played by Lauren Meeser.)
Miriam is also an artist and at night goes out into the hills around the town to paint moonscapes. Their lives are complicated when Miriam falls for gentle and caring mail-man, Warren, (played by Simon Speck) and Amanda’s imaginary friend Randolph (Anton Shäfer) shows up, eager to ruin yet another of Miriam’s relationships and keep the family situation just the three of them. Amanda’s struggle to leave her childhood behind and Miriam’s to find a life that will allow Amanda to grow, is the centre of this funny, touching and surprising play.
