Kids and the young at heart will be captivated by a new musical version of J.M. Barrie’s enduring classic Peter Pan. Swept away on the adventure of a lifetime, you’ll travel with the Darling children and Peter Pan to the magical and enchanted Never Land. Here you’ll meet Tinker Bell, the mysterious mermaids from Mermaid Lagoon, the beautiful Princess Tiger Lily, the fun-loving Lost Boys and the evil Captain Hook and his band of pirates aboard the Jolly Roger.

This spectacular new family musical is directed by Fred Abrahamse and features the music and lyrics of Marcel Meyer. Abrahamse and Meyer are the award-winning duo who wowed Cape Town audiences earlier this year with their production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The Centre Court at Canal Walk will be transformed into Never Land with breathtaking sets and together with magnificent costumes, eye-catching puppets and memorable songs J.M. Barrie’s fantasy will come to life. The production will showcase the talent of some of South Africa’s finest up-and-coming musical theatre stars including Naledi Award winner, Earl Gregory as Captain Hook and newcomer, Michael Wallace in the title role of Peter Pan.

J.M. Barrie bequeathed the copyright of Peter Pan to London’s leading children’s hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital to help raise funds for the hospital. In this tradition, Canal Walk will donate all the proceeds of the opening night in addition to R5 from each ticket sold to Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa – a volunteer based meal packaging and results oriented nutrition programme. Canal Walk will also host a meal packing event for Stop Hunger Now SA on Mandela Day on 18 July. Together with the Canal Walk Foundation, Stop Hunger Now SA aims to package 67 000 nourishing meals for 2 000 learners at 56 needy pre-schools on Mandela Day.
