Santam Swartland Wine and Olive Route

5 Oct, 2013

Farmer’s markets are growing in popularity and springing up in every suburb. For us City folk this is an opportunity to meet the community and get a taste of the country with the array of produce on offer. So it is no surprise that when the Santam Swartland Wine and Olive Route bring their wares into Cape Town there is a rush to try and buy. Which is exactly what you can do on Saturday 5 October when for only one day, the Swartland region comes alive at the Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages on Rhodes Drive, Newlands.

This is the chance to taste and buy and then plan your trip to this largely un-spoilt and geographically diverse region which offers the best in country hospitality. With 22 vineyards to visit along a route stretching  from the undulating hills of the Paardeberg in the south to the rolling waters of the Berg River in the north, the award winning wines benefit from the cool sea breezes sweeping in from the West Coast. Robust reds epitomize the area while fruity whites offer a refreshing change and underline the winemakers’ craft. Sparkling wines bring a sense of celebration and the home bakes and produce are the stuff that foodies crave!

Date:                      Saturday October 5 at Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages 10am until 4pm
Entry:                     Free entry or R40 per person for a wine glass and tasting vouchers
Enquiries:              Tel: 022 487 1133 or e-mail: swartlandinfo@westc.co.za
