V&A Celebration of Dance

November will see the V&A Waterfront’s Celebration of Dance showcase the best of Cape Town’s dance talent. The groups will perform various styles of dance including hip hop, salsa and theatrical dance from 6pm every Sunday in November at the V&A Amphitheatre. Bring the family along for an hour of free entertainment on the water’s edge while you show support for your favourite act as they take to the stage.

Cape Town’s champion break dancers, Heal the Hood, will show-off their impressive break dancing moves on 3^rd November. The group are led by Emil YX and this performance will include Black Noise, Immortal Style and Objects in Motion.

Date: Sunday 10th November 2013
Sunday 10 November will showcase an exhilarating presentation of salsa dance from one of Cape Town’s leading Latin dance clubs. Que Pasa will present a 20 minute performance by the group’s finest dancers, followed by an interactive 40 minute salsa class with members of the audience. This is your chance to get the moves!

Sunday 17 November will see the Waterfront Theatre School’s musical compilation, Dance Me A Song, demonstrate the diversity of genre and style taught at the school. Often referred to as Cape Town’s ‘fame’ school for the performing arts, the Waterfront Theatre School offers dance, drama and musical theatre. This ensemble showcases the diverse work of the choreographers at the college.

Name of event: Likhwezi Arts Project
Date: Sunday 24^th November 2013
Sunday 24 November will take on a more traditional theme with a moving performance from Likhwzi (meaning “morning song”) a professional, self-sustaining dance and arts project established by Pamela Mtati which operates in Gugulethu, Nyanga and Khayelitsha. The group will perform song and dance from a variety of South African cultures accompanied by marimbas, drums and percussion.
