Double Grammy Award winner Maxwell will be performing live at the GrandWest Grand Arena on Thursday 5 December 2013.

New York born, Maxwell is a singer and songwriter as well as a multi-instrumentalist and record producer. His music spans R&B, Funk and Soul and for a while he was known as the pioneer of neo-soul.

His debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite earned Double Platinum and was followed by Embrya, Now, and by a live album MTV Unplugged. After that initial busy period, Maxwell wanted time off and it was eight years before he released his come-back album BLACKsummer’s night. The 2010 Grammys saw him winning Best R&B Album as well as Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. His latest album blackSUMMER’Snight was released earlier this year.

Among his best known hits are Pretty Wings, Love You, Lifetime, Fortunate, and Matrimony: Maybe You. His South African tour will include a mix of his earlier songs as well as numbers from his BlackSUMMERS albums.
