Artscape sets tone for the festive season
Artscape sets a joyous tone for the festive season with a delectable smorgasbord of family entertainment. This is the final newsletter for 2013. Artscape’s management wishes all it patrons a blessed festive season. The next edition of Artscape News will be published on 15 January 2014.

STUDENTS of the Cape Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) walked away with the Standard Bank Ovation Award at the 2013 Grahamstown National Arts Festival with an engaging performance, filled with dynamic and highly talented young artists in dance in all its guises, drama and song. THE Cape Dance Company presents an exhilarating dance performance at the Theatre fusing various dance techniques and styles to melt into a cadence of pure delight. From My View – 3 December 2013 to 5 January 2014
THIS multimedia exhibition in the Marble Foyer is a pilot project by film maker Shelley Barry and poet Toni Stuart. They share their personal experiences of moving through each other’s worlds and open a discussion around the realities of access for people living with disabilities. During the month-long exhibition, deaf author Nenio Mbazima, will introduce his autobiography, Strong Winds.

Winnie the Pooh, the loveable bear, invites all children and those who are young at heart to meet him at the Artscape Theatre over the summer holiday. Winnie the Pooh lives in Hundred Acre Wood. He wakes up to a cold snowy day and goes to his friend Piglet’s home, to tell him about the snow but Piglet has gone to find Winnie the Pooh. Join Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and friends as they look for a woozle, celebrate Eeyore’s birthday, find food for Tigger and walk to find the North Pole. Tickets cost R70.

The Tin Soldier – 11 to 24 December 2013 (± 2 hrs)
CAPE Town City Ballet’s artistic director, Robin van Wyk, has choreographed a brand new ballet, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s popular fairy tale of a tin soldier’s love for a paper ballerina. Christmas with a Difference – 13 December 2013 (± 3 hrs)
THE RICO Project and the Cape to Cairo Youth Development Agency present a show of live music and dance at the Theatre to promote youth development and performance projects that originated on the Cape Flats. TENNESSEE Williams’ Pulitzer Prize masterpiece gets another lease on life at the Arena with director Darryl Spijkers’ use of music and movement to capture smoky New Orleans. Blanche du Bois is a fading, but still-attractive, Southern belle whose pretensions to virtue and culture only thinly mask alcoholism and delusions of grandeur. Tickets cost R85.
