Bed on Bricks – Summer Concert

The V&A’s Summer Sunset Concerts return in March with an exciting line-up guaranteed to help visitors enjoy the best of Cape Town summer evenings without spending a penny on entertainment. Fiery funk-hop act Bed on Bricks, who are known for their incendiary, hard-rocking performances, will take the stage on Saturday, 15 March, at 6pm to give V&A visitors a Saturday evening worth remembering. The band has garnered great success in recent months as a support act for hit UK band Bastille on their SA tour.

V&A visitors will be treated to three back-to-back concerts on Sunday, 23 March, as Rivkah Hope, Glen Hartmann, and Mean Black Mamba with Dave Ferguson all take the stage one after the other. Singer-songwriter Rivkah Hope started her music career at age 7 with a violin in hand, and has been sharing her emotional music with audiences ever since.

Following Rivkah, Glen Hartmann – who has performed alongside major SA acts such as Jack Parow – will bring his passion for differing styles of music to the stage at 6pm. Ending off the evening will be Mean Black Mamba, performing with Dave Ferguson, at 6.30pm. The band is known for their foot-stomping roots music that grooves listeners’ bodies and souls and will be joined on stage by harmonica player Dave Ferguson who has performed internationally for many years.

Audiences will be entertained by Warrick Ryan and CODA the following weekend, with Warrick Ryan kicking off their back-to-back performances at 5.30pm on Sunday, 30 March. Ryan’s music has been described as ‘dirty pop’, with his latest single, ‘In the End’ being described as an ‘optimistic break-up song’ laced with dub-step, drum and bass and electronic influences. Taking the stage at 6pm is the ensemble group CODA, with electric strings (violin and cello), saxophone and DJ to create a signature music style that traverses different genres.
