Triumph for three Artscape plays at festival

Artscape returns triumphantly from the Grahamstown National Arts Festival with three of its six plays having won Ovation Awards. The programme for the next two weeks includes two musicals, hip hop, children’s theatre, a networking forum and symphonic fun.

Jersey Boys – From 19 June 2013 (± 2,5 hrs)
THE remarkable story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, must end by 4  August 2013 at the Opera House. This Broadway musical is about the real-life story of how four poverty-line kids from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the greatest successes in pop music history. Tickets range from R100 to R390.

Boy Meets Boy – 29 June to 21 July 2013 (± 2,5 hrs)
THIS smash hit and very topical musical comedy at the Arena is a light hearted story set in the 1930’s. It tells of mistaken identities and a romance between two men that culminates in their marriage. Tickets cost R100.

My Vrou se Man se Lyk se Tas – 10 to 21 July 2013 (± 2,5 hrs)
DON’T miss this Afrikaans stage rendition of Ray Cooney’s farce, Funny Money, at the Theatre. A suburban accountant accidentally swopped his suitcase with another man on a train, just to find out that it contains a small fortune… Tickets range from R125 to R165.

Liewe Heksie – 17 to 19 July 2013 (± 90 min)
HER name is Levinia and she is a rather incompetent and forgetful witch who lives in Blommeland. Her stupidity and lack of magical skill lead to many funny situations at the Theatre. Tickets range from R100 to R140 for adults and from R55 to R75 for children.
