Direction: Yvonne Copley

Audition Date: 23rd August 2015 at 14h00.

Audition Venue: Milnerton Playhouse, Pienaar Road, Milnerton

More information: email Yvonne – Yvonne@yvonnefinchconsulting.com or cell 0834419937

Accepted as being one of the “funniest farces ever written”, this production will be staged at Milnerton Playhouse from 27th November 2015 until 12th December 2015 on Fridays and Saturdays. During the run, there may be a couple of Gala Performances too.

The play has to be set in England where “Rep” theatre was popular, so good English accents are essential. Each of the characters in the play “Noises Off”, plays a “character” in the play within the play called “Nothing On”. The Capital letters denote the character’s name in “Nothing On”. So each person appearing in the “play within the play” needs to be able to become two people. First the person they are in “Noises Off” and then as the character they act in “Nothing On”.

Auditions will be held using a section from the play that demonstrates ability to switch from Noises actor to Nothing character.

Characters:

MRS CLACKETT / Dotty Otley. Dotty is a mature actress playing the “Housekeeper” (Mrs Clackett), who is a down to earth woman endeavouring to take care of the house with as little effort as possible. Mrs Clackett needs to have an accent, whilst Dotty knows how to speak the “Queens English”, but without a plumb in her mouth.

ROGER TRAMPLEMAIN / Garry Lejeune. Garry is a “safe” actor, who will always deliver his lines in the right order and plays Roger, who is about thirty, and has the well-appointed air of a man who handles high-class real estate.

VICKI / Brooke Ashton. Brooke is a typical “wannabe famous” actress. Good looking with a great body she plays Vicki, the “sex” interest of Roger. (Requires spending much of the play in bra and panties.)

PHILIP BRENT / Frederick Fellowes. Frederick is a good-looking uptight actor who needs lots of encouragement and motivation to support his character delivery. In playing Frederick, who is older than Roger, he plays a suave man who has a deep suntan, and writes attractive new plays with a charming period atmosphere. Frederick also plays the role of the Sheikh in “Nothing On”.

FLAVIA BRENT / Belinda Blair. Belinda is an actress that always thinks she knows everything there is to know about everything. As Philip’s wife, Flavia, she is the perfect companion to him.

BURGLAR / Selsdon Mowbray. Selsdon is an elderly actor who has a little (big) problem with the bottle. He has been a sentimental casting and is a constant worry for the entire cast who never know if he will appear on cue and sober.

Director: Lloyd Dallas. The longsuffering, sharp witted Director of the play “Nothing On”

Stage Manager: Tim Allgood The good natured “puppy dog” Stage Manager, who will always try to do EVERYTHING he is asked to do.

Assistant Stage Manager: Poppy Norton-Taylor. Insecure and helpful, she is always trying to get everything in the right order at the right time – but is only sometimes successful.
