CAPE TOWN LAUNCH OF FOR YOU OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU

20year sentence is proud to confirm the Cape Town launch of David Chislett’s debut poetry collection, For You Or Someone Like You at The Book Lounge in Roeland Street on the 30th of August.
The unmistakable bright orange book consists of 90 poems showcasing Chislett’s range and depth of emotion, subject matter and style in a taut and visceral collection of verse.
Chislett will be talking about the poems, the publishing process and his thoughts on writing in conversation with Henrietta Rose-Innes. He will also play a small selection of the poems as song on the guitar.
The poems in For You Or Someone Like You have all drawn from an 18 month period when Chislett was posting a poem a day on popular social media site, Facebook. None of the poems published on the site were re-worked or edited in anyway, merely published straight from Chislett’s imagination to Facebook. From nearly over four hundred poems, this selection of 90 was compiled.
Chislett has also created an audio bonus CD that is available only through the online store. On this album, 9 guest artists recorded musical versions of their choice of poem from the book. These artists include Matthew van der Want, Paul Riekert, Shannon Hope, Rambling Bones, Shotgun Tori, Anton Marshall, Trenton Birch, Rob McLennan, JP Myers and David Chislett himself.
