CARNEVALE HITS CAPE TOWN’S PINK STRIP

The Mother City’s trendy pink strip De Waterkant is hosting its first-ever combined New Years Eve Party, Carnevale.

The Brazilian-themed street, bar and club party, the only gay New Years Eve Party in Cape Town, incorporates six venues from the area encompassing Napier, Cobern and Liddle Streets and kicks off at 8pm on Monday, 31 December.

The Village Team, an initiative started earlier this year to promote the six businesses, decided to combine the respective New Years Eve parties of Amsterdam Action Bar, Backroom Bar, Beefcakes, Beulah Bar, Café Manhattan and Crew Bar. The organisers hope that the combined party will pull more than 3500 partygoers. Last year’s event, organized by an individual venue, attracted 1800 people.

Confirmed international and local artists include among others Blackbyrd, Paul Heron (UK), Sean Oxley (USA), Tony Mariano (Italy), DraadKar and The City.

A ticket, priced at R250, gives visitors access to two outdoor street stages, three dance floors, two restaurants, outdoor bars and lounge areas, food kiosks and arts and craft stalls.  Welcome drinks will be served at arrival and guests will stand the chance to win some great lucky draw prizes.
