About the Tarot Card Series by the Artist:

The inspiration to create my own set of Tarot Cards occurred while researching my MFA thesis – Moria, a Eulogy of Folly. I became fascinated with the hidden meaning and symbolism presented by these intriguing esoteric images in the Major Arcana, the 22 picture cards of the Tarot set of 78. These images were traditionally used as a divination tool similar to the I Ching, and although the origins of these cards are obscured by time, they have been in use for centuries. The earliest known deck is the Visconti deck thought to have been created around 1450, and in my research I have found numerous beautiful, and well illustrated sets such as the Marseilles deck (circa 1748) and the Rider-Waite deck (1910). I researched the precise structure, underlying symmetry and geometry in conjunction with the symbolism associated with each card to keep the original depth of meaning and content inherent in the traditional image. The Tarot cards represent the collaboration between a Tarot reader and the artist, who visualises these images. In keeping with this tradition, Arthur Waite collaborated with the artist Pamela Coleman to produce the most popular deck known as the Rider-Waite deck, and Aleister Crowley worked with Lady Frieda Harris to produce the Tarot of Thoth. I have worked with Tarot reader, Joanne Jardine to create our unique set of Tarot etchings, each one a personal interpretation of the traditional card.

This set of etchings is presented in a limited edition of 30, with the first 10 prints collected in a boxed portfolio
