MILESTONES TO THE MILLENNIUM – Celebration of music from the 1960s to the 1990s

Fresh from the success of the musical show Ninetiesmania, Mike McCullagh returns to the GrandWest Roxy Review Bar with another musical tribute, Milestones to the Millennium, which runs from Friday, 16 November to 12 January, Wednesdays through to Saturdays.

The show will take the audience on a journey through five decades of musical hits, from the 1960s to the end of the 1990s. Jonathan Dryer in the role of show host ‘John E’, will take the audience through hit after hit from legendary musicians.

The show will introduce the likes of James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder, all performed by Jonathan Dryer. Candice Thorne will show her vocal range with classic hits such as Aquarius, Total eclipse of the heart and Proud Mary, while Monier Adams transforms into a very believable Michael Jackson. Celeste Schoeman will deliver popular Aretha Franklin and Margaret Singana hits, leaving versatile vocalist Christian Marais to bring John Lennon, Elvis, Don McLean, John Travolta and Freddie Mercury to life on stage.  His version of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show’s ‘Sweet Transvestite’ is guaranteed to have the audience on their feet and dancing.

Vocalists are backed by a talented band headed by Denzil Thorne on keyboards, Neil Payton on Bass, Safwaan Goodenough on drums and Jethro Stanger on guitar.  Stanger will also show off his skills with a portrayal of master guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Doors open at 20h00 and the show starts at 20h30.  Tickets are available from Computicket at R78.00 and the special New Year’s Eve show on 31^st December costs R130.00.  There will be no shows on the 24^th and 25^th December.
