NEW TITLE SPONSOR FOR SOUTHERN CROSS 3-DAY TRAIL

afb, an African consumer finance business, has teamed up with Trisport to bring trail runners an unforgettable 3-day trail event in the Wilderness over the long weekend from 9 to 11 August 2013.

The second edition of this event takes place from Ebb-and-Flow Rest Camp at the Garden Route National Park outside Wilderness where the runners’ race village will be based.

Each day of the 3-day trail is unique, with the first day taking runners on a challenging 25km route into the Outeniqua Mountains, the second day is 30km of spectacular trails through indigenous forests and the third and final day is a 20km trail along the coastal cliffs, with a bit of beach running.

“Runners will get the chance to experience the untouched beauty of the Garden Route and there’s something that will appeal to everyone as the terrain is extremely varied,” said race organiser Hano Otto.

According to Otto, they are extremely excited about the new sponsorship from afb as it allows them to provide the runners with a top class trail experience.  The sponsorship has enabled them to televise the event, increase prize money and provide participants with various added extras to enhance their race, plus there is a king and queen of the mountain hot spot each day with a prize for the overall king and queen at the end of the event.

The sponsorship is part of afb’s ongoing commitment to support trail running and promote it in South Africa and Africa.  afb is planning to build running clubs in South Africa, Ghana and Kenya.

Entries for the event close on Friday 17 July at midday and no late entries will be taken after this cut-off point.  Those not up for the three day event or who are going along as part of a support crew with family or friends, have the option to do either the 30km forest trail on day 2 or there’s a 5 or 10km trail option.
