NINE TO FIVE MOUNTAIN BIKING EXTRAVAGANZA AT DELVERA

Mountain bike enthusiasts, leisure cyclists and spectators can look forward to an action packed day of fun at the eighth Dirtopia Nine-to-Five Mountain Bike Team Relay taking place at Delvera Farm on Monday 17 June, a public holiday.

Competitors’ endurance levels will be put to the test with entrants trying to finish as many 7km laps as possible in an 8-hour time period.  The concept is similar to a 24Hour event.

The route is easy enough for riders across all levels and fast laps will ensure lots of activity in the transition area.  Riders can participate in three categories:  solo, teams of two or teams of four.

It is not necessary for team members to ride in sequence and one team member can do as many consecutive laps as they like.  There should, however, not be more than a four lap difference between the rider with the most laps and the rider with the least number of laps at the end of the event.

This event is fun for all ages and even novices. There are also Junior teams and Mixed teams to take part in. Lots of luckydraw prizes to be won to as well. Only pre-entries are accepted until the 12^th of June!

Spectators are welcome to relax on the lawn or enjoy a wine or olive tasting or a leisurely hike on one of Delvera’s superb hiking trails.  There are lots of kids entertainment on Delvera as well and Simonsberg Cafe will be open all day.  Book a room at the Oakleaf Lodge and make use of the long weekend.

Riders can bring support crew (family & friends) to encourage them at the transition area and relax on the beautiful lawns. No private picnics please – snacks & drinks will be for sale at the Trail Centre.  Hot shower facilities as well.

Entry fees for the Nine-to-Five Relay range from R150 – R200 per rider depending on the category. A percentage of the entry fee will go towards the Klapmutskop Conservancy.

Timing will be done by Amarider Trail Tag – for rent or to buy.

The African Mountain Bike Association. (www.amarider.co.za) is a non-profit organissatin working for mountain biking. Members get discount at this event and a Trail Tag is included in a yearly membership.
