PRIME CIRCLE

24 Nov, 2013 @ 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Enjoying lazy summer Sunday afternoons listening to the best in local and international music has become a tradition at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. It’s an opportunity to visit a botanical garden that highlights the Western Capes’ rich floral heritage and at the same time enjoy world-class entertainment in a spectacularly beautiful environment.

Now in its 22nd year, the 2013/2014 season of Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts boasts one of the best line-ups ever.

So pack a picnic, meet up with friends and family and head off to Kirstenbosch for some of the hottest artists on the coolest stage in Cape Town.

Top South African rock band Prime Circle kick off the series on Sunday 24 November, having returned from two highly successful European tours in 2013.

Since they first burst onto the scene some 11 years ago, South African rock sensation Prime Circle has been unstoppable. They stormed onto the charts with their platinum-selling debut album, Hello Crazy World in 2003 and have followed it up with a string of massive studio albums that have secured their place as the most successful rock act in South African history.

Early singles such as “Hello”, “Live This Life” and “My Inspiration” earned heavy rotation on South African radio and it wasn’t long before Prime Circle built a fanbase that would stick with them for over a decade.

Their second studio album Live This Life achieved gold status, making the band one of the biggest selling South African acts of the year.

“She Always Gets What She Wants”, the first single from their third studio album All or Nothing has received over 789 000 YouTube hits – the most viewed South African rock song of all time, cementing Prime Circle’s status as the most successful South African rock band in history.

All or Nothing was released in South Africa in June 2008 and internationally the following year and is the band’s highest selling album to date, reaching platinum status.

The band’s fourth album Jekyll & Hyde also reached platinum status and was nominated in six SAMA (South African Music Award) categories, winning in the Best English Rock Album category.

Since the release of their fifth album Evidence in November 2012, Prime Circle has spent the last year packing out festivals and clubs all over Europe and South Africa. Another single “Staring At Satellites”, from Evidence has recently been released and Prime Circle is already back in studio recording new material.

Having opened for 3 Doors Down and Alter Bridge and played alongside Metallica, Collective Soul, Seether, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, Prime Circle is one rock band you don’t want to miss.

Tickets for Prime Circle cost R120 for adults and the special Youth Ticket (6-21 yrs) cost R85.

The Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts take place at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (Rhodes Avenue, Newlands, Cape Town) on Sundays from 17:30 until 19:00.  Gates open at 16:00.
