The Vineyard Hotel welcomes in the last of winter with five wine tasting evenings in August. With a selection of fine wines on offer each Monday evening, August showcases the regions of Stellenbosch, Elgin Valley and Franschhoek.
Tastings for the month begin on 3 August with wines from Dornier. Producing a large selection of wines – ranging from Merlot to Chenin Blanc – these family wines are backed by a philosophy of uncompromising quality, ensuring that this will be a Monday not to be missed.
10 August brings the wines of Lothian to the Garden Lounge. Set on the banks of the Palmiet River in the Elgin Valley their cool-climate terroir has proved the perfect setting to produce exceptional Burgundian-style Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Rose. With the wine philosophy of “making old world wine from new world grapes”, the hotel is particularly excited to showcase this estate.
The wines of Belfield will be on offer on 17 August. Producing hand-crafted wines from only four varietals planted on the Estate – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz – these are transformed into acclaimed blends, including their Magnifica (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot) and Aristata (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc).
24 August sees the team from Allée Bleue visit the hotel. Surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the Franschhoek valley, this estate seamlessly combines world-class wines with warm hospitality and historic charm. Owned by the Dauphin family, guests can expect a certain French flair on this evening.
We end the month with Oneiric Wines on 31 August. Bordered by the iconic Kogelberg Biosphere, a world heritage site and home to the greatest variety of plant species in the world, ‘oneiric’ translates into “what dreams are made of”. This farm produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and their ‘Cousin Jack’.
A representative from each of the respective estates will host the hour-long tastings from 18h00. Tastings take place on Mondays only and are free of charge.
