If you’re wondering what you’re going to do with the kids for the next six weeks, look no further than the V&A Waterfront. From 7 December 2013 to 14 January 2014 the V&A Waterfront will be the only place to be with a line-up so jam-packed with family fun, you’ll have a hard time deciding what to do first.

There is no need to rush your shopping as little hands will be kept busy at the Cre8tive Kids activity area, the Kids Ahoy Playground, Santa’s Workshop, the Petting Zoo and the Amphitheatre. Choose from arts and crafts, story-telling and games, magic shows, cuddly animals, and of course a visit with Santa himself. Each activity is set up in different areas across the property.

Santa and Mrs Claus will set up Santa’s Workshop at the Centre Court in Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre from 16 to 24 December.  Between 10am and 5pm every day, little ones will be entertained with daily storytelling sessions every morning; and from 11am to 1pm, they’ll have the chance to pose with Santa Claus while mom or dad take their photograph. Every afternoon they can show off their artistic talent by taking part in various craft activities at a cost of R50 per activity.

At the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, youngsters will be spellbound by the free Summer Magic illusion show as magical illusions are cast right every day between 7 and 24 December from 3pm. See characters appear and vanish and even float in mid-air. This spectacle offers non-stop family entertainment with dazzling illusions, magnificent costumes, incredible visuals and get-up-and-dance music.

From the 8 December, The Kids Ahoy playground, located next to the Amphitheatre and near the Cape Wheel, will take on a carnival atmosphere.  Starting from R5, kids can take part in activities such as oversized floor games, the bean-bag toss through the clown’s mouth, ring-toss, go-fish and many more. Stilt-walkers and balloon-sculptors will keep the crowd entertained with their impressive tricks and maintain that special carnival flavour at all times.  Carnival treats such as popcorn and candyfloss will also be for sale and carnival staff will be on hand to assist at all times.

The ever-popular Petting Zoo will be back, giving younger visitors an opportunity to cuddle up to their favourite furry friends. Situated at the V&A Waterfront Craft Market and Wellness Centre, entrance to the petting zoo will be affordably priced at just R20.  The petting zoo will run from 14 December 2013 to 11 January 2014 from 11am to 5pm daily, and will be closed on 24 and 25 December and on 1  January 2014.

From 14 December to 11 January a Cre8tive Kids activity area will be located at the Blue Shed Craft Market and Wellness Centre. The activity area will offer children a range of entertaining activities with which to amuse themselves while waiting their turn at the petting zoo – or they can just hang out and have fun. Entry to the Cre8tive Kids area is R20 per half-hour which includes play dough, colouring-in, table-top games such as snakes and ladders, cars, tic-tac-toe and face-painting.  In addition children can look forward to fun Christmas-themed crafts to enjoy at an additional cost of R25-R30 per activity.

There is no doubt the V&A Waterfront is the only place to be this Festive Season, with safe family friendly fun for the whole family and options galore you won’t want to miss out on this action-packed line-up!
