Karen will opening for tasting the one of only two bottles of Glenmorangie 1963 on the African continent.

The luxury dining experience will take whisky enthusiasts and seekers of luxury on a journey of discovery where each whisky is paired to precision to enhance the nuances of the whisky notes.

Under the guidance of Karen’s mentor, Dr Bill Lumsden,Glenmorangie’s Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, she has become an expert in sensory analysis and the intricacies of whisky production. Her decade long research into Scotch Whisky and its delicate sensory nuances has led Karen to travelling the world, helping to demystify the complex and intriguing world of Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Karen’s trip signals the celebration around a very unique discovery. Fifty bottles of limited edition Glenmorangie 1963 whisky were recently found tucked away in a forgotten corner of one of Glenmorangie’s Highland warehouses. Glenmorangie 1963 is set to excite connoisseurs and collectors alike.

Glenmorangie 1963 is the world’s first wood-finished Scotch whisky, a forerunner in the field of extra-maturation and the precursor to the brands current extra-matured range of whiskies. Distilled in 1963, this exceptional malt was matured in ex bourbon oak casks for 22 years before finishing its journey in the finest Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in a single malt whisky that is nothing short of ground-breaking , going on to become the first ever commercially released extra matured ( or wood finished) whisky.

Dr Bill Lumsden, has carefully inspected the pioneering spirit, affirming that its rich and sumptuous flavours have been retained. It has now been decanted into commemorative new bottles reminiscent of those used in the 1960s, with luxury “time capsule” style packaging. Each of the bottles is engraved with a unique number and is presented in a metal “time capsule”-style box. The box has a polished oak wood interior, and contains a luxurious booklet customised with a hand-signed note of authenticity from Dr Bill Lumsden. The labels, collar and cork are made of the purest .925 solid silver and only one of these celebrated bottles will be opened for tasting at this prestigious event.
