Milnerton Players are auditioning for The Game’s Afoot by Ken Ludwig
The Game’s Afoot, by the well-known playwright, Ken Ludwig is a great comedy mystery-thriller which will be performed at the Milnerton Playhouse from 21 November. With witty, fast paced dialogue, situations that twist and turn, interesting characters and murder and mayhem, this lively “whodunit” murder mystery has lots of action and humour!
The cast consists of eight characters and auditions for this wacky play, directed by award winning Judith Herbig, will take place on Saturday September 6 at 2pm at the Playhouse.
This hilarious story starts when a group of actors are invited for Christmas to William Gillette’s castle-house. He wants to find out who tried to kill him. Added to which he also invites a hated theatre critic and then stages a fake séance. When the critic is murdered William must use all his Sherlock Holmes skills to solve the mystery and find the killer! Fun and some fancy footwork are needed in the fast paced play.
Eight performers are required:
- William Gillette (30 – 40yrs) – dynamic, energetic and passionate; based on a real actor who played the role of Sherlock in many stage productions;
- Martha (60+) – William’s dotty and friendly mother;
- Felix (40 – 50+) – his eccentric, playful and loyal friend;
- Madge (40 – 50+) – Felix’s wife, outspoken, feisty and adventurous;
- Aggie (20 – 30) – ambitious, sweet, but with a dark side;
- Simon (20 – 30) – Aggie’s husband, eager to please, naïve, charming, opportunistic;
- Daria (40+) – flamboyant and glamorous, hated theatre critic who takes herself far too seriously;
- Inspector Harriet Goring (40 – 60+) – she is a bit scatterbrained, but a dedicated detective.
Auditions will be held on:
Saturday 6 September 2014 at 2pm
Milnerton Playhouse, Pienaar Rd, Milnerton.
Rehearsals to start in the last week of September and play runs from 21 November – 6 December over weekends.
